The Home

Ash Lodge is a contemporary country house on the edge of Stourpaine, a historic village in North Dorset about 3 miles from Blandford Forum. Built in 2008 and refurbished throughout by its current owners, it pairs a timber-clad exterior with light, generous rooms that open straight onto the garden. Landscaped gardens wrap around the house, with a heated pool, a hot tub and open views over paddocks and farmland up the valley.

• Heated outdoor pool in its own gated area (April to September)

• Hot tub

• Open plan kitchen and dining room with two full-height glazed walls

• Falcon range cooker and large central island

• Sitting room with log burner

• Wraparound gardens with decked terrace and fire pit

Living Spaces

The front door opens into a reception hall with a galleried landing above, and the ground floor has underfloor heating and refinished oak floors throughout. The sitting room has a modern log burner, French doors to the terrace and double doors through to the kitchen. There is also a family room with French doors to the side terrace, which connects to the ground floor bedroom through pocket doors.

Kitchen and Dining

The open plan kitchen and dining room has two full-height glazed walls overlooking the garden, each with French doors onto the terrace. The kitchen centres on a large island, with a double Belfast sink, a Falcon range cooker with extractor and a dishwasher. A fitted larder and preparation area holds an American-style fridge freezer, and the boot and utility room next door has a washing machine, tumble dryer and a cloakroom.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

The main suite upstairs has a king size bed, a vaulted ceiling, French doors to a large balcony overlooking the grounds, a walk-in dressing room and an en suite bathroom with freestanding bath, glazed shower and marble topped washstand. Two further king bedrooms, both with built-in wardrobes, share a shower room with a double shower, and one of them also has two single beds. The fourth king bedroom is on the ground floor with its own en suite shower room, and links to the family room to make a self-contained suite. In all, Ash Lodge sleeps 10.

Gardens

The gardens wrap around the house, with a large L-shaped decked terrace, a fire pit, a kitchen garden with raised beds and fruit trees, and a greenhouse with a grapevine. A wooded dell holds the children's play area and zip wire. The heated pool sits in its own secluded, gated area and is open from April to September, and there is a hot tub alongside the views over the paddocks.
