Luxury holiday homes for Christmas and New Year
Somebody has to host Christmas. This year, let it be the house. A table that seats everyone, a kitchen big enough to share the cooking, and a proper bed for everyone, so the sofa is just for lounging. The same goes for New Year, with the added bonus that the walk home is the stairs.

Christmas, and nobody on the blow-up bed
Christmas Day is a Friday this year, so arrive midweek and the whole long weekend is yours. The heating is on when you get there, and where there is a log burner the basket is full. Bring the crackers, the board games and whoever always does the sprouts. Fair warning: the biggest houses go first, and plenty already have.

New Year, and nobody queuing for a taxi
New Year's Eve falls on a Thursday, which makes Thursday to Sunday three nights with one big one in the middle. Everyone at one table, nobody leaving at midnight to find a cab, and a quiet first of January for a long walk or nothing at all. If the night is a big one, each listing sets out the house rules on parties, so it is worth a read before you send the invites.
Christmas and New Year cottages for families and groups, 2026
Christmas Day 2026 is a Friday and Boxing Day falls on Saturday 26 December, with the bank holiday on Monday 28 December. New Year's Eve is a Thursday and New Year's Day a Friday bank holiday, so 31 December to 3 January makes a three-night long weekend. Many schools in England and Wales break up on Friday 18 December and return on Monday 4 January.
Every home here can take a Christmas stay, a New Year stay or both: design-led houses across Anglesey and North Wales, mid, west and south Wales, the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, the Cotswolds, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and the Suffolk coast, plus ski chalets in the French Alps and Colorado and villas in Cyprus, Portugal and Spain. Cottages for two up to houses that sleep thirty and more, with hot tubs at plenty of them and dogs welcome at most of the UK homes. Christmas and New Year are full rate, with no code and nothing to apply; our extra-night offer picks up again from 4 January.
